The Turkey Strut

Shhhh… we’re going on a turkey hunt.

It began with a good cuppa coffee, which is how most things begin in these here parts of the world. Or as I love to call it, Beautiful Bible Grove.

She awoke in the early hours of light. You may be familiar with the early light of spring. It is hard to resist.

Her daily grind consists of that very thing, using the only Manual Coffee Grinder Made in the USA. Some may call her crazy, some may call her a kook but those that know her KNOW she has learned (& is still learning TBH) to enjoy her daily grind.

As she soaked in the early morning rays she heard Mr. Turkey shout his song in the distance. Shortly after he sang his tune, a gun shot echoed across the hills of the Grove.

Oh dear, she thought as she wondered if his days were done. But just a little minute later Mr. Turkey made his voice known. That turkey is still in the land of the living. She imagined him laughing at the gun shot and him thinking it was a nice try, Mr. Hunter.

Soon, her Mister joined her for a few moments soaking in the warmth of the sunshine. His ears tuned in to the gobble and his heart quickened with the anticipation of a turkey hunt. She asked Mister if he could tell how close or far Mr. T was in regards to their current location. He mumbled…hard tellin’.

She suggested they go on a Turkey walk minus the dogs, of course. Their wolf pack did NOT approve of this idea but conceded in the hopes of having a delicious turkey supper.

They gathered their turkey gear with such things as a little camo here and a walking stick there. And the Mister obviously brought his favorite coffee, in his coffee mug. Oh. Mr. also put his turkey call in his shirt pocket and carried his gun safely. They were ready for their morning adventure.

He & She took off across the way and only made it a few steps when they heard a BARK behind them. Puzzled, they spun to see the wolf pack trotting & running toward them. So excited!

Whaaat?!? Did the critters change their minds AND figure out how to open the door? Apparently.

manual coffee grinder and small batch & fire roasted coffee.

Perfection is preference. -Bb.
.
My mother reminded me I said this. I am sure I heard somebody else’s version of it. However I will take the credit for this version, this time.
.
Seems like some folks think Justin & I are some sort of connoiseurs. We do have our own taste & once in a blue moon we disagree on what is good and what is not. Imagine that.
.
What is the best coffee and brew method & what grind?, they ask.

Look here. I tell them. We’ve got somewhere for you to start. And then it’s up to you & your imagination and what you think is tasty.
.
I’ve tried Turkish and French and Italian and heard tell of egg shells and/or oils added. Sometimes I think, what in tarnation?!
.
From my point of view, it seems like you try your friend’s favorite brew and then you take matters into your own hands and decide what tastes best to you. And don’t forget to enjoy.
.
We would be so excited if you gave our Rooster coffee a try. We do start with the good stuff – you know who you are – and Justin is a mighty fine roaster. He is the type of being his own worst critic. Guess we are similar in that way.
.
Anywhooos, you can saunter over to the interwebs & type redrooster.coffee into the address field. That should get you to our storefront in the clouds and we’d love to hear what you discover is your favorite brew method. They are trying to make it easier for us, maybe.
.
If you’ve got questions, give us a shout. You can call or text Justin, he’s also a great conversationalist, if that’s a thing. (509) 429-3714
.
Looking forward to how we can help. I’m super sure we’ll learn a thing or ten along the way.
.
Keep on bruthas & sistas.

Manual Coffee Grinder Made in America

HOME, OFFICE or ON THE GO… Use our Manual Coffee Grinder & Small Batch and Fire Roasted Coffee for your Best Cup O’ Joe!

Justin & I enjoy the daily grind, literally a few times a day. Our go to brew method is a thermal coffee press, but for a treat we like to use a moka pot. Since the moka pot makes a bit of a stronger brew I like to pour it over ice for a delicious iced coffee.

VERSE TABLETS

In a world full of uncertainties, I am so thankful for God & His Word. One of the things I love to do is style Bible verses… I use them on notecards, prints and now we engrave them onto reclaimed century old barnwood tablets. They make a beautiful piece in your home to remind you of God’s faithfulness and His goodness. Also perfect for gifting to a friend in need of encouragement.

Shop Verse Tablets here… and if there is a verse you want to see styled or a custom size shoot me an email britta@redroostertradingcompany.com

CUSTOM RECLAIMED DINING TABLES & LIGHTING

“This one is my favorite.” I say… every. single. time. Justin builds something. I look back at all of his masterpieces and love them all, but he just keeps getting better. Guess what they say is true… Practice makes perfect. This trestle table, benches & beam light landed in Oklahoma. It was our pleasure to deliver them along with a few other Red Rooster pieces that added old-world charm and warmth to their remodel. (Scroll down for more pics)

After meeting the family, I can only imagine the folks that will gather around this table to enjoy good food, conversation and a lot of laughter. These are the moments that turn into forever memories.

I have to agree with this quote… “There is something profoundly satisfying about sharing a meal. Eating together, breaking bread together, is one of the oldest and most fundamentally unifying of human experiences.” After a quick search this quote is credited to Barbara Coloroso, but if you look back further we have an even earlier example of this practice. Jesus often took time to slow down, break bread with his closest friends and just hang out. I’d say He is the ultimate example and we would benefit from following Him.

Cheers to taking some time to slow down, break bread with your people and enjoy the moments that add up & turn into forever memories.

OLD WORLD CHARM & RECLAIMED LUMBER

Have you ever taken down a barn? Welp… it takes quite a lot of blood, sweat and even a few tears. But, boy oh boy… is it worth it!

There is nothing quite like a reclaimed, axe-hewn beam that is repurposed into a stand-out piece of your home. Ideas include: decorative trusses & gables, deck & porch posts, stair railings, mantels or that one-of-a-kind piece of furniture that you have been dreaming about.

Justin’s latest project added so much old world charm & character to this beautiful new build. If you wanna see more pics of the outside and indoor decorative trusses keep scrolling.

Until next time… keep on. And keep looking up.

2020… it’s awkward.

Just wanted to check in and wish you all the best during these bizarro times. 2020 is awkward… among other things. But it is also an opportunity. An opportunity to show kindness & grace & compassion when most of us are just doing the best we can.

I have been so encouraged to see all the creative ways people are spreading joy & love & hope.

Cheers to choosing to use 2020 as an opportunity and finding creative ways to encourage our people. Keep on.
